Hi, just wanted to say I watched Canada beat Slovakia 18-0 live; and while it was lopsided it was amazing to see how the whole audience stayed for the whole game, there were a few who straggled out early, but the majority of people stayed and yelled. (I have never seen that happen in the NHL - the place would have been deserted at 10-0).

The best part was the end of the game where we, the fans, started cheering with a minute left in the game, and didn't stop until about 5 minutes later... including the handshake. At one point, the Canadian women went to the bench, leaving the Slovakians on the ice and the fans cheered as loudly for them, and they just stood there for a minute, raised their sticks to us and left, then the Canadians came back on and we cheered a bit louder.

Anyway, just saying, that's the part I remember the most about the game, the absolute end.

On another note, one of my best friends is Slovakian and she said that there's no way those Slovaks would have ever heard that kind of thing in their lives... saying that no one watches women's hockey (or perhaps their particular team) in eastern Europe.

I also don't think athletes should take it easy in order to avoid blowouts... it's disrespectful, and as a young athlete way back when from a small territory, i hated it when playing Ontario, BC or Quebec and noticed the other team fooling around. Hated it.

just some thoughts.
